Impact of Rozi Roti: Serving the Durham Region Community in 2024
Since its launch on September 6, 2024, Rozi Roti Food Bank has distributed an estimated 15,000 meals to local families. Our delivery based model has proven successful in reaching individuals who face transportation and mobility challenges, ensuring they receive food without stigma.
We provide food assistance to all community residents facing food insecurity due to unemployment, low income, medical issues, or other life challenges. We serve individuals, families, seniors, students, and anyone in need of support in the community. In the future, we looking to expand to other regions as well.
We mobilized over 30 volunteers, with a particular focus on empowering youth volunteers to help them develop leadership skills.
Our donor network has grown to 100 individual donors, ensuring a sustainable source of funding for operations.
In-Kind Donations: The majority of the food we distribute comes from local masajid food drives and our partnership with FreshCo. Over 700+ bags have been donated from FreshCo by the community.
Monetary Donations: We have raised significant funds from 100 individual donors, and these funds are directed towards purchasing food items and operational costs.
Thanks to our volunteer-led delivery system, we’ve been able to keep operational costs low, ensuring the maximum benefit of every dollar donated.
The funds were primarily allocated to purchasing missing items and advertising campaigns to raise awareness.
We’ve ensured that every dollar is spent wisely, with detailed financial reports available for our stakeholders. Our partnership with FreshCo also helped us maximize our budget by offering wholesale prices on essential food items.
By the end of 2024, we distributed 15,000 meals, focusing on biweekly food parcels.
Our most requested items included rice, lentils, canned vegetables, flour, and cooking oil—essential staples that meet the nutritional needs of families.
Volunteers deliver food directly to the homes of recipients, ensuring accessibility while maintaining dignity.
We are on a mission to eliminate food insecurity, and advocate for solutions to end poverty. Together, with your support we can work to feed our communities and end hunger in our city.
