How It Works

Food insecurity is a growing crisis in Canada, despite the country’s reputation for prosperity. Many assume that everyone in Canada enjoys financial stability, but the reality is starkly different. According to Food Banks Canada, over 2 million Canadians accessed food banks in 2024, marking a 32% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels. Rising living costs, inflation, and stagnant wages have left many struggling to afford necessities.

Serving Durham Region

Rozi Roti Food Bank is proud to serve families and individuals throughout Durham Region, including the cities of Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, and Pickering. Our goal is to provide access to healthy and nutritious food to all residents in need, ensuring that everyone has the resources they need to thrive.

Who We Serve

We provide food assistance to all community residents facing food insecurity due to unemployment, low income, medical issues, or other life challenges. We serve individuals, families, seniors, students, and anyone in need of support in the community. In the future, we looking to expand to other regions as well.

What We Offer

We distribute a wide range of food to meet the diverse needs of our community:

  • Protein Sources: Canned meats, canned tuna, legumes, lentils, beans, and other protein-rich foods.
  • Culturally Diverse Foods: We understand that the Durham Region is culturally diverse, and we strive to offer foods that meet the dietary needs of all cultures in our community.
  • Pantry Staples: Canned goods, oil, pasta, rice, grains, and other non-perishable foods.
  • Other Staples: Salt, pepper, spices, ketchup, peanut butter, cookies, cookies, and candies for families with small children.

We are on a mission to eliminate food insecurity, and advocate for solutions to end poverty. Together, with your support we can work to feed our communities and end hunger in our city.
